QENP
was designated a biosphere reserve for humanity
under UNESCO. It covers an area of 2000
sq kms. It has a remarkable variety of eco-system
ranging from semi-deciduous tropical forest
to green meadows, savannah and swamps.
It is a home of the tree-climbing
lions, Uganda kob and other antelope,
elephant, buffalo, hippos, baboons and chimpanzees.
Over 500 bird species
are reported in this area including
the shoebill stock, black bee-eater, 11
types of kingfishers and many more.
The launch trip along
Kazinga channel between lakes George
and Edward is one way to view the abundant
game and birds in QENP.
North of the gate is the crater area, one
of the most scenic parts of the park.
Why not go game viewing and birding in the
great East African Rift valley, in the shadows
of the Rwenzori Mountains.
